The RVDT10 (Reverb + Dual Tremolo in a 10” combo) is my 5 Watt single ended amp built into an Akai M8 chassis with a tube lineup of: 12ax7, 12ax7, 6c4, 6bq5, & 6x4 rectifier. Controls include: Volume, Tone, Reverb level, Negative Feedback switch Tremolo depth, and line output level. The tremolo footswitch allows the user to momentarily switch between a slow and a fast speed. Without the footswitch, the tremolo rate is fixed at ~5Hz. The Negative Feedback switch allows the amp to get aggressively overdriven in the up position, or stay clean and pedal friendly in the down position. There is also a Cool and a Hot input for addition gain options.

This is my take on the famed Federal AM-864 vari-mu tube compressor built into an Akai M7 chassis. The tube lineup is 6eh7 (x2), 12au7, 6at6, 6x4 rectifier. I’ve added the following controls (the original Federal compressor had just 1 knob, an input level control); output level control, threshold and ratio controls, attack and release controls, a ”zero adjustment“ control, and a bypass switch. XLR input and output on the back, all transformer balanced (new Edcor transformers). This thing can give big clean transparent sounds or grinding overdriven sounds by adjusting the input/output controls as well as the threshold and ratio controls. This thing is capable of some serious pumping at high ratio setting too. Tons of color and flavor.

This is my take on the Bogen RP2 microphone preamp built into an Akai M7 chassis. Tube lineup; ef86, 12ax7, 12au7, 6x4 rectifier. XLR input feeds the ef86 channel (1/4 inch DI injection also available on this channel) with phase, pad, and high pass switches, and the 12ax7 channel is fed by the two 1/4inch inputs in the upper left. one is a guitar level input, one is a line level input. The two channels mix together in the output, and the single tone knob is assignable to either channel. Transformer balanced XLR output on the back, hi-z 1/4 inch outputs on the front. About 70db of gain in this preamp. Big clean sounds as well as crunchy sounds can be dialed in.

The platform chassis is an Akai M8 single ended el84 mono block with 12ax7 and ef86 preamp tubes and a 6x4 tube rectifier. The original high quality wire-wound resistors were retained, but this amp has been completely re-capped and reconfigured to my circuit which I like to call the SOS.
the SOS is a two channel guitar amp. Channel A (top inputs) utilizes the first half of the 12ax7 and is fed to the volume control on the right (near the VU meter). Channel B (bottom input) utilizes the ef86 pentode preamp tube and is fed to the volume control on the left (near the inputs). Channel B is the hotter of the two channels due to the operating conditions of the ef86 pentode and will overdrive earlier on the volume dial than Channel A. There is also a tone control between the volume controls that is switchable between the channels. Under normal operation you can mix the signal of two guitars while having the tone control effect one of the channels. Or you can run an A/B box from your guitar into both channels, and set one for gritty, and one for clean. I call this mixing mode.
Channel B is also equipped with a patch point between the wiper of the volume control and the mixing tube (the jack for this patch point is located directly above the input of channel B). By inserting a patch cable between the channel B patch point and the channel A input, you can access an extra stage of gain, and the volume controls that operated as mixing controls in normal operation will now function as pre (channel B) and post (Channel A) gain controls. This creates some unreal distortion, sustain, and compression. Slide players love it. I call this cascading mode.
On the right side of the amp is the VU meter and the outputs of the amp. The amp is internally connected to the built in 10inch speaker. If an External speaker cab is connected to the speaker jack, the internal connection will be broken and the signal will be sent completely to the external cab. This amp wants an 8ohm speaker load.
A line level signal is available at the top right and has its own output attenuator control. I’ve found this useful for cases where I use this amp for my grit and then use the line output to run that sound through some delay and reverb and into a bigger amp or a DI into the house.
On the back panel is an IEC power inlet with a fuse holder. This amp uses a 1/2 amp fuse.

The amp is built in the donor chassis of an Akai M8 and the tube lineup is: 12ax7 (x2), 6c4 (reverb driver), el84, and 6x4 rectifier. The front panel controls feature Volume and Tone, Reverb, Trem Depth, Negative Feedback switch, and line output level. Inputs and outputs include: Low and High level inputs, Speaker output (kills internal 10" speaker), line level 1/4 output, and the Trem footswitch. The Trem footswitch has a fast speed knob, a slow speed knob, an ON/OFF footswitch and a momentary FAST/SLOW switch. Without the footswitch plugged in, the Trem rate is set at ~5Hz. The amp comes with a Jensen C10R speaker that can be upgraded at your request. The amp comes with feet on two surfaces so it can be oriented vertically or horizontally.
IMHO this is the ultimate 5W amp. Killer at the studio, and a gig-boy for any size gig if you utilize the line output fed into a larger backline amp or direct into the house.
